Pumpkin Pie

Another all American recipe is of course one of this season’s favourites: the pumpkin pie. It is such a delicious and simple recipe to make, and it’s also quite healthy (or that is what I like to tell myself)! To think that a few years ago I didn’t like pumpkin… so many years of pumpkin pies lost!
I know this isn’t something Italians would traditionally cook, but it’s been a few years now that my friends and I make pumpkin pie either for Halloween or Thanksgiving.

So here’s how I make my pumpkin pie:



  • Pie Crust (I know you’re supposed to make this too but it would take too long)
  • 420 gr of Pumpkin
  • 100 gr of Sugar
  • 150 gr of fresh Cream
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Ginger (you can also grate fresh ginger)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Nutmeg

First of all take your pumpkin and boil it for about 10 minutes, so that it softens. Check if it’s ready by poking a piece with your fork and if it’s soft enough mash it into a smooth creamy pumpkin puree. Let it cool down.

In a bowl mix the eggs, sugar and honey. Whisk them together and then add your spices: cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg.

Then add in your pumpkin puree to the mixture and stir well. Add the cream, which you’ll have previously whipped a little to make it’s consistency firmer.

Stir well and simply pour your mixture in the pie crust that you’ll have prepped in a baking tin.

Cook for about 1 hour at 160°c, and then 5 more minutes at 180°c to get a nice golden crust on top.

To decorate you can add whipped cream or icing sugar.
